The power dynamic has definitely shifted for a majority here. There are a few interesting studies out there evaluating the chance that human estrus exists. In the setting of the strip club, ovulating women (or generally fertile) get more cash than those on birth control or women on their period.

You also have to think why evolution might conceal estrus in humans. In my mind it's pretty simple, a mate (male) is less likely to stick around for the time needed to raise a child if women are only receptive to sex during "mating season".
