Yesterday, still on the Art from Heart daily challenge, we were required to create a self portrait using any medium we like.
Personally as an artist, self portrait has been one of my challenges and I almost never draw myself cause no matter how I see it it never looks like me and I almost gave up on doing the challenge, but then I said to my self "If I don't do it now, when will I" so I just played a song from my playlist and went ahead with the drawing even though I wasn't sure of how it would turn out.
In the process of creating the portrait I come to realize a lot of things and one is related to the fundamental guide of drawing a person's portrait which says "the ears starts from the eye brows and ends at the nose", and I realized that it doesn't really start from the eye brows but from the eyes itself then ends at the top of the lips not the nose which give it's a form a 3dimensional.
The human face is 3dimensional so drawing the ears "from the brows to the nose" makes it 2dimensional which makes face look flat in a way.
I am really glad I was able to summon the courage to create this drawing cause it really helped me notice somethings that I need to work on.
