This past Friday in Montreal, there was a massive climate march led by Greta Thunberg. It apparently amounted to arounf 500,000 people joining.
That's a lot of people gathered in support of something. But what are they supporting?
Winter is not coming?
I guess that is a comical word play on Game of Thrones. It's intent is to hyperbolize a doomsday about there no longer being winters. If not now, then apparently, "soon".
Should we not care about the environment? No, of course we should. I don't like pollution. I try not to pollute. The trash I put out is once every 4-6 months in one bag. Each week is mostly compost and recycling. Not that all recycling actually gets recycled...
In Montreal, kids were allowed, or actually encouraged, to go to the march, as they closed the schools Friday. Is that really a "rebellion" against the governments? No. It's supported by the state-funded government.
What's it all for? To take more money and give it to the government so they can squander it and control us more? Will they actually solve anything? Why aren't we changing our behavior alone? Why beg the government to do something? It seems this is just going to end up with more taxes, like a carbon tax, and the corporations will profit with carbon credit sharing and exploitation.
Maybe in the end it will help things, but the historical ice records show that temperature rises and then carbon dioxide rises, not the opposite. I say stop polluting as individuals, stop buying crap, stop using toxic chemicals. I don't use bleach and other harmful substances. Use public transportation. Stop begging the government to solve everything for you. It won't work out as well as if you take responsibility in your own life.
