Few years back I have built a website in my local language and tried search engine optimization to increase traffic to my site. I have started posting my website link in forum signatures and commenting on other blogs with link of my website. I managed to get my site in first page of Google results with a keyword called “telugu sms”.
There are different factors considered by search engines in ranking of website for example links to your site from other sites, quality of links, original content, comments etc. I have seen many people first build backlinks to get their site listed in search results. Some people buy links and posts in other sites to increase their ranking.
In my experience I found that posting consistently and building back links and increase followers by using social networking sites, posting original content will increase ranking of websites.
