I'm new here, and honestly I'm trying to get noticed. I'm not a blogger, or a writer, but I have led an interesting life.
I was born and raised in Waco Texas. Before Chip and Joanna Gaines made their mark, Waco was known to the locals as Six Shooter Junction. My city has a long tragic and bloody history. From the lynching of Jesse Washington to the ATF raid on the Branch Davidians, Waco is born and raised in both tragedy and violence.
As a boy I spent my time outdoors. My father, an avid outdoorsman, taught my brothers and I how to survive in the wild. Fishing has always been his hobby, and he passed his knowledge on to his children.
As I got older I spent less time outside and more time playing music. I discovered a local punk rock scene, not well known, but a very close community. Punk rock seemed like freedom to me, so I started a band. From September of 1998 until January of 2001 Korc74 played every chance we could get.
In 2001 I was 19 years old, in the world didn't seem so nice and bright anymore. My adolescent optimism had been overshadowed by the reality of being responsible for myself. I started looking into different political philosophies, and another band formed. We called ourselves The Faction. A melding of punk rock speed and heavy metal riffs, with the screeching scream of teen angst. This music was my life, my soul, and my political views began to shake into what they are today.
Now 15 years after The Faction play their last show, we have decided re-emerge. The political climate begs for us to speak truth to power. After all these years, failed marriage, two children that are my greatest blessing, and enlistment in the army, and the many things that life has thrown at me, it is time.
