Oh wow it really is the original story. When I heard of it, I was thinking it might be true due to the violent culture in Europe during the 18th century and the story might be based on that. On the other hand, I was doubting if it's true because I haven't seen a copy of the book or any document showing a proof of Grimm's work. In fairness to the version we know, I still prefer it for a fairy tale since it makes people feel good. Thanks for confirming that this dark story is the actual story. It cleared my confusion.
