Hello everyone. Two posts ago, I shared a temple that is over 500 years old in Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. Today I changed the scenery to a temple in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province. Which is not an ancient temple, But was a temple that was built over 100 years ago. This temple is called Wat Den Sali Si Mueang Kaen or Wat Ban Den.
History of Wat Den Sali Si Mueang Kaen.
Wat Den Sali Si Mueang Kaen was built in the year A.D. 1894, about 129 years ago. The original name of this temple was Wat Ri Boon. In the past, this temple was only a small temple in the village. The temple is not famous and not known to tourists and ordinary people. And the temple did not have as many and beautiful architectures and sculptures as today.
When the monk's name is Kruba Chao Thueng Natsila Loma is at this temple, there is the bodhi tree grew up in the temple, but before there was never a Bodhi tree. The Bodhi tree in the local language is called the Sali tree. And this temple is located in area ancient city in the past called Mueang Kaen. Therefore, the name of the temple was changed to Wat Den Sali Si Mueang Kaen until now.
Kruba Chao Thueng Natsila Loma is a buddhist monk, who is revered by many. Both Thai people, Tai Yai, Chinese people and various minorities in the north of Thailand. And a lot of faith in buddhism and Kruba Chao Thueng Natsila Loma, so there are many money offerings. Kruba Chao Thueng Natsila Loma therefore brought a lot of those money to renovate the temple in 1991 or about 32 years ago until it was a temple with many beautiful Lanna architecture and sculptures until now.
Many beautiful Lanna architecture and sculptures at Wat Den Sali Si Mueang Kaen.
Highlights of this temple, Highlight 1 many sanctuary areas, which has more than 10 sanctuary within this temple. Which some sanctuary are not yet completed. And the completed sanctuary are very beautiful. Which inside each sanctuary is decorated beautifully and has the presiding buddha image of each sanctuary. For example.
A large sanctuary made of teak wood and In front of the sanctuary there are 2 large king of nagas statues, a green and a pink king of nagas. This sanctuary is called the Viharn phra chao tanjai Inside the sanctuary, there is the presiding buddha image of the sanctuary is the white buddha image. This buddha image is named Phra chao tanjai.
The sanctuary that enshrines Phra Sethi Nawakoti. This sanctuary is a brown wooden sanctuary with a blue roof, Lanna art. In front of the sanctuary there are sculptures of white horses, brown lions and angels. Inside the viharn, there is the presiding buddha image of the viharn, Phra Sethi Nawakoti, and there are statues of King Taksin and King Naresuan. King of Thailand in the past.
The sanctuary is made of blocks and white cement decorated with color gold thai patterns and a blue roof. At the front, there is a stairway to the entrance of a white king of nagas and a sculpture of a white lion. This temple is called the Viharn Ma Taam. Within Viharn Ma Taam, there are many brass buddha images and the presiding buddha image of the sanctuary is Phra Kaew Klao Chao Boon Rueang.
In addition, inside the temple there is many sanctuary, buddha images and other sculptures, which I don't know the name in the area of various sanctuary zones.
The second highlight of this temple, the pagoda zone area of the temple. This temple built 12 large beautiful pagodas. Which, all 12 pagodas are 12 zodiac pagodas of Buddhism. The pagoda zone has to walk up the stairs to the top and everyone has to take off their shoes. The stairway up is a large bird named Nok Hasdee Link. Which is an ancient mythical bird in the north of Thailand. Around the area, within the 12 pagoda zones, there are many buddha images too.
In addition, within the 12 pagoda zone there is a large sanctuary, Which there is a large reclining buddha image.
Other zones will be meditation zones for monks and people, there will be a large pavilion and other buildings. And there is a zone area the monk's cubicle.
