Solar will honestly need to move to space one day but we first need to develop a technology that will allow for cheap and most importantly safe transfer of energy over such a large distance.

But the bigger problem of current renewable energy is its unreliability as you can't make sure the sun will shine or that wind will blow. And storing energy is still a problem we exactly haven't solved at such massive scales needed to provide humanity with continuous energy. That's where nuclear comes in. When the sun shines, the wind blows.... you stick with renewables. But when you don't have that, nuclear should come in and provide the energy until renewables can shine again.
