I can’t say for sure if this is a sixth form of censorship. Today, demonstrations in support of free speech are taking place across the country (the Czech Republic).
Czech Television and Czech Radio have been widely respected public service media outlets. Which, of course, bothers our populist-extremist government.
Until now, these two media outlets have been independent and funded by license fees. The government plans to nationalize them and fund them from the state budget. This would mean government control over these media outlets.
The government has a majority in Parliament, so it will push this law through. But we can still protest in the streets. And there will be another election in three and a half years. We still have democracy.
