Differences from the Elves: Analysis of the Chapter on tensei goblin dakedo shitsumon aru?
I have to admit that this has been the episode with the least political plot and has focused mostly on Akira and his relationship with the elves—with Karen and Chloe—and how they feel about Chief Akira. You have to admit that Akira is a great leader.
We see how the elves—especially Dike—are grateful to Akira for saving them and taking care of them in the goblin village. Dike says she’s now going to devote herself to the young Goblin Chief, and Akira, like the good leader he is, orders that she be taken care of even more and that new clothes be made for the elves. I have to say that the design of these elves is quite eye-catching; I think they’re there to provide the fan service that many people enjoy, and personally, it doesn’t make me uncomfortable or bother me.
Akira sends a message to Count Simón to inform him that the elves are under his care and that they’re being governed by the principle of “The Law of the Strongest.” I’m curious to see what Simón’s reaction will be in the coming episodes and just how powerful the elves are, because the fact that they’re with Akira undoubtedly means they’ll very likely be in a battle against humans in the near future, but that’s just my interpretation. Although Akira says he’s declaring they’re on his side to protect them in case anyone tries to attack them.
It’s worth noting that Dike’s character design is quite eye-catching because of how voluptuous she is, and that lends itself to jokes or fan service, as I mentioned earlier. In the same vein, we see that Karen is a bit overwhelmed by the elves and has even gone so far as to feel jealous of how beautiful they are—she’s even imitated what one of them did. Could this be the episode with the most jokes so far this season? I wonder if this trend will continue or if we’ll return to the political anime of the early episodes?
We also see that the humans continue to attack the goblin village and are trying to come better prepared each time. So far, the goblins have limited themselves to repelling the humans’ attacks and handing them over as prisoners without harming them in any way. So Akira comes up with a plan to serve as a lesson to other humans who might want to attack the village. Since he can’t actually hurt them, Akira thinks a mocking tattoo—as a reminder of their defeat by the goblins—will be enough to stop the other humans from attacking.
We also learn a bit about the prince—who I imagine will face off against Akira in the future. We’re told he’s a prince who has never failed at anything and is as close to perfection as one can get. Remember that this prince was the one who cornered the Demon King, so Akira wonders what kind of abilities this prince possesses. What is it that makes this prince seem so perfect and enables him to carry out every mission entrusted to him?
And well, to wrap up this post, let’s talk about what this episode was about and how the three elf sisters—even though all three were rescued by Akira—each felt something different toward the young goblin; each of them has a different emotional connection with Akira. While Dike feels admiration for Akira, Eunomia—even though she was also rescued—feels rejection and jealousy toward her sisters’ attitudes toward Akira. Eirene, on the other hand, expressed her gratitude in a somewhat more flirtatious way. Therefore, Akira will have to deal with different personalities, as each of them responds differently.
