Mastering the Art of Defending Against Magic Damage Monsters - Splinterlands Brawls
Hello everyone, I'm excited to be back with the BOOTY LICKERS guild and our latest brawls. After a few setbacks, we've finally regained our place at the top. I've rented a powerful summoner to increase our chances of winning and improving our guild's rankings. In this post, I'll share my thought process on how I chose my lineup and had a blast playing these games. I hope you'll enjoy it too!
BATTLES
GAME 1
Anticipating the ARMORED UP + RETURN FIRE ruleset, I prepared for an all-out magical assault from my opponent. With that in mind, I opted for a lineup of three monsters with SNEAK ability, complemented by CAPTAIN KATIE and her powerful SNIPE. This lineup proved effective against the vulnerability of most magic monsters, and my solid defense was bolstered by two additional monsters with above-average HP to buy me time. To further counter magical opponents, I added PRISMATIC ENERGY to my lineup. However, the enemy surprised me by choosing physical damage monsters that focused on frontline combat. Fortunately, my adaptable lineup and his limited options allowed me to win the game.

FLED
GAME 3
I'm always wary of magic damage monsters since they have caused me to lose many battles in the past. That's why I make sure to have at least one monster in my lineup that can counter magic damage. For the second game, I employed a similar strategy, selecting two SNEAK MONSTERS alongside CAPTAIN KATIE and her SNIPE ability. However, this time I wanted to gain an advantage in speed, so I chose two monsters with the SLOW ability. The increased speed of my monsters enabled me to easily win the game, as my opponents' monsters were unable to take their turns.
GAME 4
I'm extremely cautious of heavy melee lineups and those focused on MAGIC + HEAL in this specific ruleset. To counter this strategy, I selected MYLOR CROWLING as my summoner, along with QUEEN MYCELIA to increase my monsters' defense against physical damage. For countering magic damage, I chose MUSHROOM SEER for his SILENCE ability, and WOOD NYMPH to HEAL my first position monsters, giving my SNEAK monsters more time to take down the backline monsters of the enemy.
GAME 5
My primary tactic was to use high-HP tanks and support them with HEALS. That's why I picked MYCELIC SPAWN and placed it in the first position, allowing my two healers to restore its health and provide time for my other monsters to chip away at the enemy. Unfortunately, my plan went awry as the enemy had more damage output than my MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN could handle, and it died before receiving any heals. To make matters worse, the EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ruleset resulted in me losing all my monsters. However, my savior came in the form of QUORA, a mighty monster that singlehandedly demolished my opponent's monsters, leading to my victory. This powerful monster proved unstoppable, leaving no room for strategies to overcome its might.
GAME 6
As with the first and second game, I opted for a safe and robust lineup. This time, I went with two SNEAK monsters alongside CAPTAIN KATIE and her SNIPE ability. To counter magic damage and bolster my defense, I selected CLAY GOLEM. For even further defense, I added LORNA SHINE and her DIVINE PROTECTION ability, along with TRUTHSEEKER and her skill to grant +1 armor to all my monsters. With those defense, I won the game comfortably.
GAME 7
Under the ARMORED UP ruleset, I made a conscious effort to select monsters with resistance to magic damage and chose two sturdy tanks capable of withstanding such attacks. However, I was caught off guard when my opponents fielded an army of physical damage monsters, rendering my tanks helpless and leaving my magic damage dealers vulnerable to defeat.
GAME 8
In this particular battle, I had a clear strategy in mind - selecting YODIN as my summoner for his devastating BLAST damage that would singlehandedly win me the game. I also opted for high HP monsters to ensure that I outlasted the enemy, withstanding each round of poison damage the NOXIOUS FUMES ruleset dealt. This approach proved successful, securing me the victory.
GAME 9
I know that choosing MYLOR CROWLING as a summoner with the BRIAR PATCH ruleset is not the brightest idea, but my monster's performance was not hindered as QUORA and JINI GUISE dominated the match. annihilating the enemy's vulnerable range lineup to secure another victory for me.

AFTER WORDS
Choosing a balanced lineup can often lead to victories, but it does not guarantee a win, as evidenced by my experience in game 7, where I chose a safe and balanced lineup and ended up losing miserably. That's what makes this game so enjoyable, it's like a game of chess or poker that requires strategic thinking, and even the most secure and powerful moves can still result in a loss due to unexpected and crafty lineups or luck.
