Hello, my friends. What a pleasure to greet you again and return to this community. I hope you are all enjoying an excellent day.

In the morning I had to go solve some problems in the city. I walked a lot but in the end I achieved my goal. And along my walk I found myself in the middle of the Havana Malecón and its contrasts. Something that especially caught my attention was finding myself in front of some giant billboards that show a great truth, our street vendors.

And I'm not telling you to stand and look at the horizon, no. I'm talking about walking slowly along the sidewalk, right up close to those gigantic billboards that seem painted with the soul of the Cuban. There is life itself, portrayed large, as if so that no one can pretend not to see it. There is part of the reality of the Cuban.

Those enormous murals are not simple decorations for tourists. They are a mirror. There you see the vegetable vendor with her floral and plaid apron, hand on her hip and the look of someone who knows what a plantain is worth. And beyond, the peanut vendor, the one who always has a joke ready for the customer. They are scenes that one sees every day, but when you see them painted large, on the Malecón wall, they hit you in the chest. It's as if they were telling you: "Look, this is us, and what a beautiful thing."

And walking along that sidewalk is an experience that cannot be explained. You're walking along, and suddenly the sea breeze wraps around you. It's a salty air that seeps into your skin, messes up your hair and makes you forget the Havana heat. That wind is like a fresh embrace that pushes you to keep walking. On one side you have the sea, with its waves breaking against the wall; on the other, the billboards that tell you the life of the neighborhood. And in between, you, with the breeze hitting your face.

The billboards reflect the daily struggle, but also the joy. There you see the woman who hawks garlic and onion, with her hoarse voice from shouting so much; the cassava vendor who pushes his cart with one hand and wipes his sweat with the other. They are the same ones you meet at the market, but in giant version, as if so that the sea and the whole world can see them.

Also visible in the distance is the Castillo del Morro, a fortress built to defend the city from pirate attacks and corsairs. And closer, on this same side, we see some cannons designed for that same purpose.

Between prints and contrasts one observes the sea, a park, a hotel, a life... And there you realize that the Malecón is not just a place, it is a feeling. And those enormous billboards are proof that the Habanero, with his salt and his wit, is everywhere.

If someday you come to Havana, don't just stay for the photo of the Morro. Walk along the sidewalk broken by time and saltpeter, walk slowly, let the breeze wrap around you and look closely at those billboards. There is all of Cuba, because the Malecón does not distinguish between art and reality. If you truly want to feel what Havana is, don't bury yourself so much in history books. Take a stroll along the Malecón.
