Buffett doesn't understand the value of bitcoin, as it's a non-producing asset. He hates a lot on gold as well. The speculation drive in 2017 likely prompted these negative comments, as the state of the markets was pretty disingenuous at the time. I still respect him a lot though, and maybe one day he'll see bitcoins value.
