Ode to the Fish
A Sonnet
by kpd
My textbook fish, you inspire me to write.
I love the way you frighten, squeak and flap,
Invading my mind day and through the night,
Always dreaming about the furry zapp.
Let me compare you to a library?
You are more active, romantic and keen.
Ice bites the debris of February,
And wintertime has the aquamarine.
How do I love you? Let me count the ways.
I love your last eyelashes, hands and thumb.
Thinking of your steadfast hands fills my days.
My love for you is the allegheny plum.
Now I must away with a blurry heart,
Remember my past words whilst we're apart.
