Imagine two identical ideal metal spheres in vacuum. The first one is suspended on a string. The second one is lying on a flat surface.
At the moment both have the same temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and we want to warm them up by 1 degree Celsius (presumably using some ideal warming mechanism).
Warming up which of the two will require more energy and why? The thermoconductance of both the string and the surface should be ignored (i.e. considered 0).
