I had takoyaki recently after a long time and it reminded me just how great simple street food can be. The smell alone pulled me in before I even saw the tray. It's a bit expensive but still taste good. This made me inspired and made my mind move with the taste that lingered after the last bite.
Golden rounds on the waiting plate,
Crisp outside, I couldn’t wait.
Sauce brushed thick with careful hand,
A glossy sauce perfectly planned.
I lift one up, it’s warm and hot,
Steam escapes. I might eat a lot.
Slightly pause, just huff and puff.
Make it colder, don't need to be rough,
The shell gives way with tender crack,
Soft within, no turning back.
Octopus hides, firm and sweet,
A playful chew I’m glad to meet.
Sauce and mayo blend just right,
Salty, sweet in every bite.
Sea and batter, rich and true,
A comfort taste I always knew.
A few more munch. I don't mind.
What is this I can't find?
I had eight. This is before,
Now it's gone. I want more.
The last bite fades, but still I know,
That joy can come both fast and slow.
Takoyaki, octopus as its base,
Until next time, I'll savor the taste.
