My mum, sister and brother-in-law came up to visit me in Byron Bay a couple of weekends ago and I thought with my wife we should all go for a picnic near a river or a creek a bit of a change from home or near salty beach water we wanted to be some where near fresh water and nature where my mum could feel more comfortable under shady trees, with wildlife around her, we were doing this for her 85th birthday and didn't want her sitting by the sea in the heat of the sun at her age, it would not have been enjoyable for her. I had some discussions with my wife and decided going to Belongil River.

Belongil River is located 2.5km north-west of the Byron Bay town center and flows into the Brisbane River. This beautiful Belongil River stretches through a lovely green terrain of tea trees with lot's of bird wildlife that can been seen along this healthy river, it was the prefect spot for my mum under the shady trees enjoying a Ozzy barbecue and listening to the birds singing and the sound of the flowing river.
