If learning is a Life-Long Process, why don't we see " Life-Long" teaching happening in Schools & Colleges?
Why most of it does stop after graduation or post-graduation degree?
If we associate learning with educational institutes and also say that learning is a lifelong process, therefore, there must be institutes teaching us throughout our life.
Why don't we find such schools or colleges?
Just after a college degree, we are considered smart enough to learn on our own. Till that time, we are not considered smart enough to learn from our own experiences.
On one hand, we say, learning is a lifelong process and on another hand, most of our higher education completes before the age of 23 years.
If we are considering schools/colleges under formal education and rest as informal education. Still, why does formal education stops with a college degree?
If learning is a Life-Long process, why doesn't formal and informal both get continued throughout life?
Why is it so that during the early years, not much importance is given to informal education rather more emphasis is given to formal education?
(Informal education is a general term for education that can occur outside of a structured curriculum.)
And, once we are done with our college, we are left with the "informal learning" wherein we learn from own our experiences and not from a fixed curriculum.
Food for thought:
What if, we only have "informal education" till the age of 23-24 years and a brief formal education after that?
Let a child learn on their own!
