We have seen people saying... STAY FOCUSED.
But is staying focused good or bad?
First, let us understand why are we not focused?
When our mind is occupied with other important or interesting things, we find it difficult to focus on the current task.
Why only important or interesting things?
If it was not important or interesting the person would have focused on the current task.
So to focus on the task, we somewhere have to discard things that we are interested in or are important to us. Don't you think, focusing on only one thing will kill our curiosity as we are intentionally avoiding other things that we are also interested in?
If we really want something, was it not supposed to come naturally to us, if we are forcing ourselves to "Stay Focused" we are trying to do something we actually don't want to do at that moment.
It is said that focus will improve results, but who needs those results which came after discarding other interesting things?
This belief system about "Focus" is forcing us to become result/outcome-oriented rather than going with our instincts. The "focus" is somewhere not letting us enjoy things that we otherwise would have.
Instead of trying hard to "Focus", why don't we first address the tasks we are thinking about and then get back to work.
Moreover, we cannot focus on something for a long if we are not interested in it. And if we are interested in something, why do we require to focus, it will come naturally?
Also, we must not get into the trap of focusing on only "one" thing kind of philosophy, do what works for you, modify as per your personality.
