Hi Steemit! What to plant your succulents in? As usual, there are several options, ceramics, glass, currently most popular concrete, terracotta, plastic. Now there is a huge number of beautiful ceramic pots, on every corner you will be offered a stylish florarium or succulent in a concrete pot, but for me it is completely not practical, so I will tell you what I use.
Plastic! :) Like many collectors, I use plastic pots. Many use the square shape of pots, from the point of view of saving space, this is ideal, the pots stand tight to each other. To be honest, I don’t know how to get to the pot in the middle, how to get it without dismantling the whole row starting from the edge. :) My pots have rounded edges, so there is little room to grab the pots. I bought on ebay some square pots specially made for succulents to try.
They initially made a lot of drainage holes, which are located in three rows. I planted four plants in new pots, the same as those in old pots, to compare. The view, of course, is completely different, despite the fact that I like my green cheerful pots.
Back to the plastic. I use sets of pots for seedlings, now you can also find a great many of them. Their convenience is that you can choose any suitable quantity, size, shape. Sets of pots are in drawers or pallets, which is convenient for watering or transportation.
The bottom of the pots is removable, which is very convenient when transplanting. The only drawback is that at the bottom of the pot most often only one drainage hole is made, but this is not enough. And then a hot nail comes to my aid, if you know what I mean! :)
Plastic is also good in that it does not absorb anything and, accordingly, then does not release anything into the soil. Plastic does not hold the temperature too well, quickly heats up in the sun and cools just as quickly when cold. Therefore, probably, all the same, you should not use black pots if you take your plants to the open sun, although nothing happened to mine in gray !;)
