So I just got a model 3 and wanted to compare the cost of it vs my old car that it replaces.
Currently I drive an X4, its milage goes as follows:
One gallon of gas will cost around 3.20 and it will take about 4.2 gallons to go 100 miles. If I drive it likely will be worse, but let's not talk about that.....
So that is a cost for 100 miles of roughly 3.2 * 4.2 = $13.44.
On the other hand I just charged 100 miles for $4.17. This is charging the model 3 at a supercharger close to my home.
So overall the pure energy cost of gas vs. electric is about 3 times higher.
A full battery of my model 3 should cost about $10.
Interesting.
