The moon moves exactly 13 degrees and 20 minutes every 24 hours (13 and a third degrees, since there are 60 minutes in a single degree of arc). This divides the 360 degree zodiac circle into 27 parts, one for each day of the monthly lunar cycle.

I'm curious if you have studied the fact that the moon stays out longer (15 hours) and shorter (9 hours) .. is pretty strange behavior.. and it appears it can ONLY be calculated using past experience data as it is completely irrational in computational mathematics.

I found out when trying to calculate moon rise/fall and sun rise/fall for a little program I wrote.

you can calculate the suns position easily.

but not the moon.
