i would argue that he was put onto a pedestal, during a 325 A.D. Council of Nicaea.

before that Christianity was split amongst those that believed he was a man who had realized the Christ within... and those that thought he was the only son of man.

I say he was a man that achieved enlightment and tried to pass it on. all his words say we can do what he did would indicate that is the correct interpretation.

in my previous studies I found some information that pointed out how the fullfillment of the prophecy was shoe-horned into the Jesus story (virgin birth and a bunch of others).
