Comings and Goings This Week

  • ISS change of command: Roscosmos cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov accepted command from NASA astronaut Jessica Meir on 2026-10-04 (ceremony targeted for 14:20 UTC / 2026-10-05 03:20 NZST, UTC+13).
  • SpaceX Crew-12 undocked from the ISS Harmony zenith port on 2026-10-07 at 12:05 UTC (2026-10-08 01:05 NZST, UTC+13). Jessica Meir (NASA), Jack Hathaway (NASA), Sophie Adenot (ESA/France), and Andrey Fedyaev (Roscosmos) splashed down in the Pacific off Los Angeles on 2026-10-08 at 15:34 UTC (2026-10-09 04:34 NZST, UTC+13) after 237 days in space. They are no longer in space.
  • No Tiangong crew arrival, handover, or return in the last 7 days. Shenzhou-23 (Zhu Yangzhu, Zhang Zhiyuan, Li Jiaying) remains the sole crew aboard Tiangong. Shenzhou-24 has not launched. The previous Tiangong crew returned on 2026-05-29 and is not counted.

What Our Spacefarers Have Been Up To

  • ISS Expedition 75 completed the Crew-12 handover: Crew-13 continued unpacking Dragon Grace and station familiarization after docking on 2026-10-01, while Crew-12 packed and departed. Pyotr Dubrov took station command on 2026-10-04. Seven crew remain (NASA, Roscosmos, CSA).
  • ISS cargo operations included loading trash into Northrop Grumman Cygnus XL ahead of its uncrewed departure around 2026-10-09, and preparations for the uncrewed SpaceX CRS-35 Dragon cargo launch targeted for 2026-10-13 10:33 UTC (2026-10-13 23:33 NZST, UTC+13).
  • Tiangong Shenzhou-23 continued microgravity science, station maintenance, and health monitoring. As of the 2026-10-04 Tiangong TV update, the crew was conducting metabolic and medical checks after more than four months in orbit. No handover with a new crew has begun.
