oh ty so much :)

my NFT "series" was started as a bit of a joke, mocking the idea of all of these nft projects i was seeing. whereas i like to hand-create anything that i would mint as an nft, i saw so many projects that were just playing like mr potato head with a bunch of features. now i do have a better understanding that there are SOME of those projects where a lot of work goes into the underlying artwork, but the whole idea of "rare traits" still makes me laugh a little because i mean sure you run this program which uses some kind of RNG to decide things, but like, you can run a program an infinite amount of times, right? LOL.

but so i started making NFTs in my own series that all use the same base image of myself. the first editions i will admit i didn't spend nearly as much time creating, but since then i put many hours into each one. certainly on this one which would (i hoped at the time, and now i know for sure) go into space, i spent a lot of time on!

the whole idea behind this project they're doing is to kind of create a bridge between the NFT community and the space community, which i am totally on board with. whether or not you think it might be slightly silly/maybe more symbolic than realistic (for instance i asked questions about like the NFT is technically not removable from the blockchain, so how do you send it into space, but i only asked this question to understand the mindset behind the project- personally i still think it's super cool to have the files sent to the ISS and out into space) - it's still a fun idea and i think there's this whole aspect of it that these nfts will be the "first" to have actually been sent into space as their true nfts; so maybe some people are looking for some type of fame.

i just thought it would make sense to include something of carl sagan's legacy since he is a big reason why i appreciate science and astronomy and i'm sure the same can be said for millions of other people!

and this community just seems perfect for this kind of project, it seems like people creating art here would probably be the exact people who would be interested in it!

at least for now the missions are using NFTs made on the DeSo blockchain, but i've posted about this before, i think any of us on any of these decentralized social media apps should be supportive of all others, why not? we should want to see at least one if not all of them survive- and maybe if there were enough interest here in the future, maybe they would end up doing a mission using NFTs on the hive blockchain.

i'm just a space nerd but also a computer nerd so i got super excited when i heard about this whole thing :D
