A huge crowd surrounded the field where the flying saucer had just landed. Everybody looked at it with nervous anticipation. The place was blocked by the heavy police and army cordon. Groups of reporters hustled around frantically trying to get closer to the spot.
The wild rumors circulated in the crowd. Some said that they had spotted the aliens briefly exiting the flying saucer and that they looked like the huge slimy caterpillars. People gasped in horror. Others who were glued to their phones watching the live broadcast of everything that was happening near the flying saucer claimed that they hadn't seen anything like that.
An official delegation comprised of the experienced diplomats, linguists, hostage negotiators and leading scientists stood nervously shuffling, waiting for a cue to step forward and greet aliens.
Strange things started happening in the town several days before. All the cats became agitated. They darted around, meowing hysterically, gathered in the huge gangs and attacked people.
Some said it might have been that they sensed an approaching earthquake. The town quickly organized the special brigades to catch all the stray cats and lock them down checking in the process if they carried some disease which made them crazy.
Several days later a flying saucer appeared in a clear blue sky out of nowhere, hung for several minutes suspended above the ground and then landed with a loud clang.
The news about this event quickly spread around the town and soon a crowd started gathering around the spot where the flying saucer had landed.
The police reacted quickly and created a cordon around the area. Soon the army joined in, so the territory of a several hundred meters around the flying saucer had been cleaned. Only the grass shimmered under the wind.
The hatch on the side of the flying saucer opened, and everybody gasped when a furry cat's head peeked outside. Then the whole cat ponderously climbed out looking around with curiosity.
The meeting delegation hurried forward, and the head of the delegation who was a leading hosting negotiator gave a prepared speech assuring the alien race that the human civilization was a highly developed and peaceful group of creatures willing to engage in a mutually beneficial communication with the alien races.
The alien cat looked at the delegation with a polite smile and an expression of slight confusion on its face. The delegation repeated its speech in several languages.
"Right," said the cat "I get it. But I wonder why we have been met by the representatives of the inferior race. It's the first time it happens to me, and I consider it an insult. Do the noble Ones consider it below their dignity to meet us in person. I mean the Cats."
The space cat was getting more and more furious.
"Ok, in this case," concluded the space cat indignantly "tell your masters that this is going to be the War and you all will be erased from the face of the Earth."
With these words, the space cat climbed back into the hatch, and the flying saucer took off and disappeared into the sky.
Several days later hundreds of flying saucers descended on the Earth. Thousands of cats jumped from them.
They ran to the town, starting the brutal fights with the local cats until the hastily organized special teams of veterinarians locked them all down, together with the local cats, checking in the process whether they carried some disease that made them crazy.
