He had a steady job. It included editing papers, writing notes. He woke up and commuted to work observing the drizzle outside the bus window. Then he arrived at his office lit by the green fluorescent lamps and turned into a machine. Half of his brain was sleeping.

One day he met a girl with the auburn hair and deep dark eyes. Her eyes were shining as if everything she saw around made her excited. They walked along the streets, and the drizzle turned into a magic rain with its drops sparkling in the green foliage of magnificent maples. When he looked into her eyes, he drowned in them. Everything else lost meaning.

She told him that he was wasting his life at his job. He realized it. They talked about dreams and aspirations. He decided that he wanted to be a painter. He'd be starving, but he would draw and paint every day, getting better. One day he would create something really important.

The thought of returning to the fluorescent-lit office became unbearable, so he quit his job. Very soon he had been cash-strapped, but he kept drawing and painting, dreaming about the future. He thought how this girl gave the meaning to his life. And he hoped that they could be together longer

One day she told him that those people who followed their dreams could do anything. Like to fly for example. He smiled skeptically. She looked at him with her deep dark eyes laughing. Her eyes were shining and sparkling with mischief.

To prove her point in the evening, she took him to a strange, desolate neighboorhood, and they climbed to the top of a high building. They stood on the roof in silence, and they could see the whole city before them - dreamy, purple and red in the sunset.

Then the girl laughed again and said that now she could fly. And she made a step over the edge of the roof with her arms spread like the wings, and he thought that maybe she told the truth. But she fell.

He was stunned. He slowly went down and exited the building. He saw the girl lying on the sidewalk. He couldn't recognize her face because her skull cracked like a watermelon, pieces of her face and hair floating in the pool of blood. The police arrived.

The police quickly revealed that they were together on the roof. He was accused of murder. It turned out that the girl shortly contacted the police and said that a strange man stalked her. After conducting a background check the investigators learned that he recently quit his job without any explanations. He had been put under arrest.

As a silver lining, the girl had the insurance covering her death from an accident or murder. The hefty sum of money went to her infant daughter who struggled with leukemia. This money covered her medical expenses. She survived
