I am not sure if I am allowed to say this but I am new and don't know a lot about most of the things that goes around here, instead I keep my head down and try my best to write something interesting each day.
I am here for more than a month and I have subscribed to several "whale/minnow" programs and I am thankful to them all!
Without whales, minnows would just get frustrated and simply quit. Whales are generous enough to throw some upvotes, SP and whatnot and once again I am genuinely thankful to them all. BUT is this how we want this community to grow?
I mean for a second I will put my personal gain aside and would ask in general. Are we creating a bubble for ourselves which in a long run would pop as we won't be able to engage the general population(newbies) as per their potential?
Do we want to start a centralized sructure while bragging about decentralization? I mean who are we kidding?! People are working for incentives and nobody gives 2 fucks about posts and content! People google and uses it to search for day to day topics. They uses facebook because all their frineds are there. What steemit can give to people is tremendous but are we being fair to ourselves and even trying to give this platform a chance to reach it's full potential?
I try to post at least once per day and I admit don't produce great articles but I post "okayish" posts. Without #PAL, #Whaleshares and #STP all my posts dies without even 1 view, this is the harsh truth for me right now, I think with in my mind "I must be shitty at writing I guess" but then I see my follower's posts and same! I browse new posts, once again same! Then as it wasn't enough rarely somehow if you get some $ their value drop to 0 and the depression of losing something rises and it gives birth to frustration.
My question is are we creating a centralized bubble here and fooling ourselves? Do we want "meme's" to be stuck in the blockchains forever instead of at least somewhat real stuff?(no offense to dank meme creators) or do we actually mean business here? So that tomorrow when somebody try to ask questions like "why do we use your currency? what's so good about it? what backs it up? We have so many other currencies why you?" and we have nothing else to show but bunch of memes? Can we find someways to actually develop an environment where true progress is not blocked because of whatever reasons? And where even the new comers can get atleast some exposure without the weightage of their wallet but with their work? Or is it just me, who didn't understand the system at all and talking out of my ass?
Please let me know in the comments, Thanks!
