Today on "My Lecture Note" we'll be taking a look at some crops, their examples and Classification.

CEREALS

This crop belongs to the grass family Poeceae or Graminae and are grown for their seeds.
They are the most important crops all over the world. They include rice, wheat, maize, barley, sorghum, and millet.

GRAIN LEGUMES

They belong to the family Leguminaceae. They are also grown for edible seeds and they include, cowpea, soyabean,pea, beans, ggroundnu, green beans.

ROOTS AND TUBBERS

They are grown for their enlarged tuber. They include, yam, cassava, sweet potatoes, cocoyam, potato.

FIBRE CROPS

They are grown mainly for the lint for cloth making. They include jute, kenaf, hemp, sissal.

OIL CROPS

They are grown mainly for the edible oil and includes, groundnut, soyabean, sesame, sunflower, cotton seed, maize seed.
