Solomon, the King of Israel was born to King David through the woman he got by idolatry and murder. Despite these, the loved the boy, Solomon.
2 Samuel 12:24 KJV
And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the Lord loved him.
The Lord shown interest in Solomon just like he did to us all.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Growing up in the way of his father, Solomon started with the Lord by giving his life to Him. He was said to give the best offering to God, a beautiful temple and was confirmed to loved the Lord.
1 Kings 3:3 KJV
And Solomon loved the Lord , walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
Loving the Lord require giving our heart to Him, observing His commandments and following them.
Mark 12:30 KJV
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
As a result of how Solomon loved the Lord, he was blessed beyond others in wisdom, knowledge, understanding and wealth.

In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. [11] And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; [12] Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. Loving the Lord with all our heart is rewardable just as it is if otherwise done.
