Haven't thought or found much to steem about. So I'll steem about my near future career path. Branching out from civilian life to a part time military life.
Being me and finding work doesn't seem to work out to well, besides activities and acts against the law. Been searching hardcore for legit work for over a year now. Had multiple interviews but all met the same words in the end, "we'll call you". Which in all previous endeavors translates to "we're not even considering you for a position". Only had one okay job for a couple months working for an elderly man. Helped around his shop and fixed up houses he owned. Was paid $20 a day no matter how much work was done. But that suddenly stopped without a call or nothing.
About a month or so ago started looking into military branches. Was stuck between Army Reserves and the National Guard. Mainly because both are part time, being 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year on duty. Decided on joining the National Guard. Biggest reason that is because I'll be stationed here in home state of Kentucky and most likely right here in my home town. That way I wouldn't be far, if at all, from my son.
Already taken the first steps in the door and talked to a local recruiter. Next step is finishing up my application and returning it. All that's left is writing out my criminal history and how I've changed my life since. No big deal to whip that out. Biggest thing is that I have a small tattoo on my thumb. Hoping to get a waiver for it along with my criminal history.
Anywho, I plan on after basic training doing my advanced individual training as a MP (military police). Which would lead me to obtaining a Law Enforcement career as a civilian. Which is all fine and dandy in my book. Be stable income and work. But if I can, via scoring high enough ASVAB test, doing something with computers and then pursing MIT as a civilian. Afterall I do enjoy diddly dadling with electronics anyway. Which would open up so many doors for me.
But either way it goes a career in the military is something I've wanted since I a kid. Ever since I first watched Full Metal Jacket around age 7. Hope you enjoyed reading about my future career choice.
