Today is called Passion or Palm Sunday. It commemorates Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem where he endured his passion to save us. Hence, the cry: ''Hossana'' means ''save us, we pray.'' It marks the beginning of Holy Week before Easter Sunday.

Jesus was God who created us. When his creatures strayed, he did not abandon them to doom. He began the process of reconciliation. He left his Kingdom and came down to earth.

Philippians 2:6-7

"Though he was God", Paul says, "Jesus did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped. He emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant being born in the likeness of men."

He became obedient servant unto death; a shameful death at that! Death on a cross. For cursed is he who hung on the cross (Gal. 3:13). But he was carrying our curses and not his.

Jesus is for us a paradigm of leadership for which a leader should follow. That a leader is a servant of others. He is to serve others and not to be served

Matthew 20:28

Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

This is the type of leaders we need in our world. One who is ready to lay down his life for the led. Or at least go hungry for the sake of his subjects. He says, 'I am the Good Shepherd, I came that they may have life to the full'. Thus, he reprimanded those shepherds who feed on the pastures of the sheep. They even milk the fat sheep (Zech. 11:17).

The civil servant is not or underpaid. The little he supposed to receive is slashed and does not come to him in due time. Whereas in many part of the world, the so called leaders, apart from their intimidating salaries, receive allowances for everything they do, including sitting and standing allowances.

The poor masses are in their constituencies languishing. No road, poor or no power/water supply, food, shelter or clothing. When leaders act like this, they are no better than Judas Iscariot who betrayed his master for money sake.

They betray the interest of the people. I urge you leaders, let us emulate Jesus who is an epitome of leadership. He was a leader who offered his life for the good of his people.

Brothers and sisters, we are not left out in this scene of betrayal. Be sure you do not betray he/she who has placed his/her trust in you. It gets to the highest point when we betray God who has loved us so much to the point of dying for us on the cross.

The people spread leaves but we are to spread ourselves to be passed by Jesus to others. That's us humility. Whenever we sin, we betray him. This message wouldn't have come at other time than now when we prepare to enter the Holiest of all the weeks in the Christian calendar.

Therefore, brethren, let us go into retrospection and strip off any inclination to pride or betrayal of any sort. It is true you might have been betrayed in one way or another by the one you love and trust. Look unto Jesus. He is the only friend who cannot betray or disappoint you.

2Timothy 2:13

if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.

Even when we are unfaithful, he is faithful still. Let us learn to serve others in our positions. The joyful thing is that his service brings us liberation and salvation. Let us look unto Jesus as our model, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Peace be with us all!
