Over a century old battle, scarred veteran, defying time, fire, and the elements, a sample of the big trees in the magnificent pine forest that once mantled the Mountain City of Baguio, perhaps now feeling so forlorn and lonely, missing contemporary neighbor pines felled long ago by the ruthless axeman.
This is the oldest tree here in Baguio City, preserved by the wood artist. It survived the carpet bombing of the city during World War II or, as the landmark beside it states, “defying time, fire and the elements.”
