Two animals I've always loved from my childhood were the lion and the eagle. Having been taught that the lion is the king of the jungle, alongside watching my famous childhood cartoon The Lion King. I admired the lion as a child, and even as an adult I still do, as a child because of the stories I was told and the lion movies I watched. And as an adult, I know the lion as a symbol of strength and resilience. A brave man is usually referred to as a man with a lion's heart, which also reminds me of a famous Nigerian proverb; "it takes a lion's heart to get the lion's share".
As a child, I also fell in love with the eagle character after watching one of my old-time cartoon series YAKAHRI Seeing how the eagle would fly down from the sky was a joy to watch. As a teenager I decided I wanted to know more about the eagle, which led me to making some research and finding out that just as the lion was seen as the King of the jungle, the eagle was seen as the King of the air, being the only bird that can soar looking directly at the sun and a predator bird with all magnificence and pride. I watched a documentary one time about how the mother eagle trains the eaglet to soar by throwing it from the top of the mountain continually and catching it before it crashes on the ground until the eaglet learns to sustain the height and also soar back to the mountain top. I also saw another eagle documentary on how the eagle is fearless in catching its prey no matter how dangerous the prey looks, it simply catches it and suspends it in the air, and as it soars the prey (which is also a predator of its kind) loses its strength. But the documentary I really loved was about the Raven which is the only bird that ever challenges the eagle, it will perch on the eagles back with a bid to prey on the eagle but the eagle would just mount up wings and soar high into the air to the point were the raven can't attain allowing the Raven fall off it's back, back to the point it can fly to.
The lion and the eagle are more than just predators, they're Apex Predators; meaning they hunt other predators regardless of size. My love for their strength and resilience above all bravery is what makes them my favorite animals. I might even keep them as pets in the future (I love the white lions more).
If I have to powers of turning into an animal I will like to be a combination of both; with the eagle's wings, I will rule of air, and with the lion's strength I will rule the pride (The Jungle) lol. But on a serious note, I feel the combination of both makes both kinds more magnificent than they already are, imagine the LION-GLE reaching the mountaintop and making a thunderous roar that sends a shiver to the spine of any heater, I can also imagine the pride (the lion kind) in the same vain together in that strength. But then it's all a dive into my imagination and I think it will be really cool, sadly I'm not much of an artist, I would have made a painting about it. But then the picture in my imagination is still a joy to watch lol.
