The fact still remains that the conventional school system never prepares us for the real world. This is why we have educated geniuses working for companies and the average people owning the companies. I discovered a long time ago that struggling for first class was limiting my potential. I say this because my life's vision is totally different from what a lot of people think. And the fact that back then I knew that I wanted to do a lot, but the drive for first class was making me read and read all the time. Then life happened to me and I had to start working because No one could sponsor my education. This was when I understood that the life of the intelligent is very straight forward, they learn, pass with flying colours and gain the attention of the big firms who are run by those not academically brilliant. These are people who find ways to be heard and not just create value but be so important that valuable people are naturally around them.
I was listening to a billion talk one time and he said he is not the smartest person in the room, He does not understand the practical application of a lot of the things his companies do, but he is also smart enough to know that he isn’t the smartest person and smart enough to hire the smartest people to get the job done. This means that the smartest people get the jobs done for those who are not smart enough to get the job done. School does not prepare us for these things, school prepares us to work at the bottom of the food chain by training our minds to remember instead of training our minds to invent new things. And even when they train our minds to invent new things, they do not train the confidence needed to sustain what our minds were meant to carry, which is the difference between CEOs and employees. CEOs know they do not need permission from anyone to show their uniqueness, employees think they always need approval from someone and that is what the school system teaches.
This is why I hate exams, not because I can’t pass them but because they are just too predictable. If you schooled in Nigeria you will understand that it is even harder, I think it is the only thing that looks like suffering that actually teaches something. I am talking about those lectures who would never teach you but set exams and leave you to pass or fail however you wish. But not everyone does that, because I mean if everyone does it then doctors would be killing people instead of treating people. Exams teach us to remember what we have been thinking and not to come up with new ideas. I understood this very clearly back in school and that was why I was always reading to pass because the majority of our curriculum was even outdated. What would the academically intelligent students do if the exam is to use what has been learned to make money anyhow they wish. This is when you will see our academic genius go blank because they only know how to be very good with memory and not solve problems with their minds.
