When I'm not busy working with rock stars on the radio and various other artists I like to work in the garden with all different sorts of plants and flowers. I also enjoy photographing them. I find the whole thing keeps me from not getting to caught up . Its a way to refresh and recharge and I'm reminded there is a reason for the saying "Don't forget to take time and smell the Roses."
Now I could pull numbers from various studies that show the benefits of taking some time out of your day and getting some fresh air but I believe that its kind of common knowledge . The stimulation to the mind and body is quite obvious if you'v ever spent long amounts of time in an office or just at a computer. I'v often been able to solve problems by stepping away and getting some fresh air and different scenery.
For most its just the ability to do such things during their work day . The ever growing popularity of coffee shops and internet cafe's that encourage their patrons to stay and study or work or whatever it may be has its benefits . These places among others can be a great way to change your environment and stimulate your brain while not sacrificing your work. You may perhaps even better your productivity . Judging by the popularity of such places there are many who find this the case.
This also translates for the home and family. If a family doesn't remove themselves from the household the environment can get stagnant and people can get short fused and tempers can flare. Changing the family setting for a day can really help the dynamic and boost the all around moral of the home. While we're in the home, at the end of the day what are we doing all this for ? Its so easy to get caught up and forget to enjoy the beautiful life in front of us that we are working so hard to achieve.
