This week, I decided to hit up some nostalgic tunes and celebrate the arrival of a friend of mine @xkasabian to Hive.
The Idles - Danny Nedelko
This one just gets me pumped, as soon as it starts it's on the go, and I think the chorus of it is great. I've been learning the Bassline to this, and am hoping that eventually, the cover band will be able to do a version of it. More than just liking the song, lyrics, and band in general, I like the feeling it gives me these days; it reminds me of the summer of 2019... or was it 2018?
See, we started going to one of the pubs here in town, and it quickly became our regular, because we got on well with the people working it, and we'd end up coming down when the place was shutting and get a lock-in with them haha
The night would start up in the gaff of @xkasabian and we'd be pre-drinking... if you're not used to that phrase, it's drinking before going out drinking haha it's the warm-up in a way.
We'd be blasting out tunes, and just as we'd finish up our drinks and get ready to leave, we'd have a swig of this putrid Oyster Wine he was gifted, it was like a good luck gulp. It was hard to know if it tasted rotten or if it was gone off, but regardless, they were some good nights. The Idles were one of the many bands that helped us get ready for the shenanigans.
The pub we'd frequent was great and they had all sorts of stuff on the jukebox, including Idles which was kickass.
The Viagra Boys - Sports
This is another band we'd be playing, I remember him putting me onto them at the time by naming someone we know from town, and saying, "Man, it's him, but if he was in a band."
They're a cool group, and this may not be the best of their songs, but it's the first one he showed me, and as repetitive as it may be, I liked it, and they're easy to rock out to.
Also, at 00:28 seconds when the tennis ball hits him in the head and wakes him up, I've never burst out laughing so much. Good video, good song, great band.
Batzorig Vaanchig- Mongolian Throat Singing
The after-session would be in my house, and while winding down and scrounging the last of the drinkables we'd be chilling out and playing some easygoing stuff.
I was going to share another song, but then I thought, no, Mongolian throat singing all the way. The amount of these different people we came across is mad, and the two of us just couldn't help but get lost in it.
In a haze, the night would end, and the next day we'd be dragging ourselves down to collect his car before the traffic warden started work and we'd get some grub.
Each of the songs chosen today are like the three courses of a night out on the beer, the starter, main, and desert haha
