I find this to be an interesting topic of discussion, and a good chance to discuss some ideas, and maybe create a few new ones.
Blockers
Blockers is the common name used for medication, created for humans on Confederation worlds. They can relinquish the user of all pain, to give enough time for the victim to get taken to an emergency facility.
They work by dampening the user's nervous system and slowing down their heart rate. Depending on how the person takes it, the medication can result in the patient going into a deep sleep.
In pill form, the effects take place over the space of forty-five minutes, and at first, there is a tingle in the stomach, which starts to fade as along with a numbing sensation, and as it takes full effect the person can't feel anything, some users may even fall into a laughing fit, but they'll be unsure of what they're laughing at and will sometimes speak incoherently.
When injected, the effects are almost instant, and the person's pupils begin to dilate, some people have recalled the experience as if a dark shadow fills their peripheral vision until completely immersing them in darkness.
Blockers in pill form flooded the black market on some worlds and became an accessible drug people would take recreationally. When mixed with alcohol, a user is said to experience tranquility, and if they take too much, they can lose consciousness, but the high chased by most users is a balance between being conscious, while also losing most of the motor function.
A nickname for individuals who use this substance is known as Numb Numbs and the dangers that come from taking the substance in public are that they can be attacked or robbed and be completely defenseless toward any assault.
Gnosian Pheromone
Gnosian pheromones were first extracted by the Alid scientists from unwilling Gnosian test subjects.
They discovered that a particular liquid excreted by Gnosian Queens when under distress has the ability to send any Gnosian in her vicinity into an unbridled rage.
When inhaled, Gnosians lose all self-control and become animalistic, their strength and endurance spikes, making them a bigger threat than usual, especially in unarmed combat.
The Alid created a distilled version of the substance and it was used on the battlefield to give Gnosians an extra combat boost, and this substance continued to be produced after the war and any criminal group that enlists Gnosians tend to have an emergency supply.
Gnosian Half Breeds
Gnosians are one of the few races who can breed with the most known species, and due to this, queens produced by Human and Gnosian DNA can produce a pheromone that affects humans too.
Countless years of research were done to produce a similar substance for every known race of Free Space, but most were unsuccessful - currently, there is a Human, Gnosian, and Beskin version of the substance. Each has a slightly different effect.
The facility which engineered and researched these substances was permanently closed and most of the research was lost during the fall of the Alid home world, but there is a bounty for anyone who can extract the data from the large underground facility.
Rage-Heads is a nickname bestowed on anyone who abuses the substance, most Gnosians refuse to use it due to the sorted history of its creation, but the ones who do see it as an edge that shouldn't be denied.
The Z'han'ali
This race is known for its regenerative qualities, and countless years of research into their DNA by the Alid uncovered the miracle drug known as Substance G - Or Regen-Stims.
These stims only work on a few races of Free Space, the Alid being one of them, and it was the key to uncovering cyber-tech, which branched into many fields of study and technology, but the most important one was the neuro-tech, which helped bridge the gap between flesh and machine.
With neurological attachments, a person's body could be enhanced with a plethora of cybernetic attachments, ranging from prosthetic limbs to neuro implants.
As it became readily available people started to use these implants and attachments for cosmetic reasons, but it was designed to aid people or enhance them.
They have become a rare commodity now though since the fall of the Alid home world, as have many widely available advancements in a whole manner of different industries. There are still people out there who can perform such operations on customers, but it is so expensive that only the incredibly rich can afford the luxuries and in some worlds, modifications are seen as a mark of wealth.
This comes at a cost, however, as some of these flashy individuals are targeted by harvester groups who can make good money on the extracted material.
