One thing gets fixed, while another is falling apart.
I headed onto Adobe yesterday to do a bit of editing of the gig footage from last week, and as Premiere Pro was about to open, a warning message appeared.
It told me that due to my operating system, the newest version of Premiere Pro may have some compatibility issues.
I checked Windows for updates, but it told me it was fully up to date, and after a little bit of digging, I realised that my system doesn't meet the minimum requirements for the latest version of Windows, and by extension, a bunch of apps.
There have been times recently that I noticed my computer struggling a bit, and I have had it in mind that it is about due for an upgrade, but right now is not a great time.
Editing
I was working on editing the latest gig, as previously mentioned, which is roughly 3 hours of footage.
The footage is divided into 2-hour blocks, and while editing the first block, it was find, then I added and synced up the second block to the timeline, and now every click causes Premiere to become unresponsive.
I assume that having both blocks on the timeline simultaneously is causing the issue, so I may have to chop it down before continuing work.
Right now is a terrible time for this to happen, though, especially due to the gigs, coffee session, and documentary I am working on, as well as my own side projects.
5 Years
I built my PC back in 2020/2021, and it has been an absolute beast since then, but I guess 5 years of semi-heavy use is a long time.
What I am going to do is find out if a new CPU would be compatible with my current setup, because I really don't want to have to build a brand new one from scratch, even though it would be really fun.
After making a pretty major purchase in the form of the camera/ streaming gear for the WMC gigs, I have left myself in a position where I can't really afford any major purchases.
If I am really lucky, I'll be able to figure out a workaround which allows me to get some editing done in smaller, more manageable batches.
