Ederah VIII is a world in Confederation Space, and it is known for regions of beautiful vistas and a warm climate, most of the year round. While it does suffer from the odd bit of dangerous weather, the visitors are warned - sometimes - days in advance so they can make sure to prepare themselves and hide out indoors, where they would be able to enjoy and take advantage of many of the indoor activities this resort has to offer.

What Makes This Resort Different
It is known for its high-tech layout, where all the staff are droids. Every job is completed by droids and being non-human, any guest who visits has the luxury of being at total peace with whoever they visit the resort with.
There are many activities that take place, from walking the well-kept and maintained grounds of the complex, to being shofar flown to see all of the beauty spots of the world. There are also world-class eateries, which are catered by robotic chefs who have access to every recipe known to the civilised world; anyone preparing to visit can give a list of the kind of food they like, which allows for all the ingredients needed to be gathered, and using an algorithm, the chefs can even prepare dishes to allow the visitor a chance at trying something new.
You can have sonnets written for you, or even be painted by these droids, so you can bring home a treasure to always enjoy the memory.
Expenses
This resort is open to all who can afford it, and while it is costly, it is worth every penny spent.
In the local cluster of this world, you will board a vessel and be taken to Ederah VIII, and after landing you will be given the option to go on the grand tour or be shown to your room so you can take the tour at a later time.
Once on this world, everything is included, and the visitor doesn't have to think of money; along with everything you know you are getting, you will also be treated to many surprises and gifts which are all chosen based on a personality test you and the other guests complete before booking a stay.
History
Originally, Ederah VIII was to be just another Colony world, but when in the process of building the first settlement, the Director of this world, Wayne Vasser, saw it was destined for more than just farming and extracting.
He saw a vision of the potential of this world, and with the help of his distant family, they all came up with the money to try something new.
Once the resort's plans were shown to the Trifecta, nearly all of the members of the council agreed to sell the planet to the Vasser family, on the grounds that they establish the resort, maintain a positive review score indefinitely, and share 60% of all earnings with the inner council.
While the idea of handing over the majority of their profits seemed a bit too harsh, they agreed, especially considering this was the first time a planet had ever been handed over to a citizen.
The Attack
Being on the border of Confederation Space, Wayne was told about risks to the resort and planet, considering no one knew what lurked on the outskirts of their territory.
Free Space was known about, and contact had already been made with them so Wayne wasn't too worried. However, only ten years into the resort being operational there was an attack on the world.
Gnosian raiders started picking Confederation worlds to attack, in random hit-and-run assaults. Nobody expected this to happen, and Ederah VIII was the first world struck by these bands of aliens.
Automated defenses did what they could to help, but they weren't sophisticated enough to protect everyone or save the resort. From the attack, the whole place was left in ruins, and of all of the guests who were holidaying on Ederah VIII, there was only one survivor, Thorann Dert.
He was only in his mid-twenties, and after being rescued he was in shock from what happened. But, he decided to join the military as he had nothing left to go back home to.
Cause For War
Once the resort was struck, everyone in Confederation Space was calling for war. The assault caused ripples that etched out hatred in the minds and hearts of the general public, and each world hit after this first attack only bolstered this hatred.
Thorann Dert is the main character in the book I wrote a few months ago, which I'm editing at the moment and this prompt was a good chance to re-visit the idea of this place and give it a bit more depth.
