It's Tuesday, which means it's that day of the week when the community throws out a couple of songs that have been on their minds recently. #threetunetuesday is a lot of fun, and a good chance to share some ideas and potentially get introduced to some new music.
Chumbawamba - Shhh
I love listening to albums, when I'm doing something I don't want to constantly be changing songs, or skipping them, so typically I'd just throw on an album. I know I could shuffle a playlist or something, but sometimes you just want to stay with one vibe, rather than bouncing around randomly.
This song is really good, and I think is a great into to an album. The album itself is also called Shhh. If you haven't heard it, it's well worth checking out.
Chumbawamba - Give The Anarchist A Cigarette
This is the opening of their album Anarchy, and I think it's another great one. This album, in general, is just amazing from start to finish and is one you can just throw on and barely notice the time going by.
I've actually been listening to a lot of their albums recently, because a couple of weeks ago, I was listening to some music and the baby was stirring and a bit restless, even though he had been changed and fed.
So, I decided to throw on this album, and within the first 30 seconds of this song coming on, he chilled out and went to sleep. Since then, I have tested it on a few occasions and it works each time; needless to say, I think the baba is a fan. I'm assuming it has something to do with the melodic singing, but not too sure. Now, anytime he's fussing me and my partner sing to him and it seems to stop him in his tracks.
Conflict - You Cannot Win
Here's another great intro, imo, I think it's fairly creepy sounding, with spliced-up audio, but then that all dissipates into the actual riff, and then some vocalised harmonies come in.
This band, along with Crass and Flux of Pink Indians was my first introduction into Punk Rock and pretty much over the space of one weekend my taste in music was never the same again.
I was 14 and a few of us went over to Shepards Bush, for The Feeding of The 5,000 and it was unreal, and it feels like it was only yesterday. Funnily enough, my band, years later supported Steve Ignorant doing is Slice of Life stuff, which was kind of cool.
Speaking of Intros of albums is one thing, but here's a really good Outro, from the album that I just mentioned.
