So your about to graduate and thinking of possible career choices?
Maybe it is your dream to work in corporate america or abstractly purse a career in art. The old idea you can not make a living as an artist is out of date. Can you feed your wife and kids as an artist? No, but you can have a happy fulfilling life. If you like faking happiness at a call center, then you can afford to have a kid or two.
The broken record saying "you will never get paid for your work" is not true. To become is to live that life. The number one field to get in is healthcare. The job ads are endless. Definitely go for social worker or behavior therapist. Next on the list is Computer Science. There are infinite avenues which makes it the most rewarding field. Lastly If I could have a do over I would study Economics. The market/economy is the fabric of our lives. It dictates what we do each day.
My last advice, if you really have a passion for art I hope you having parents to finance your expenses or be prepared to do odd jobs. I remember watching a documentary on a stripper who supported herself through art school. As a final project she expressed her true beauty in paintings. It just goes to show you, universities can't teach you everything.
Be responsible. Be somebody.
