Holidays are always so memorable. A break from out regular lives imprinted so vividly and permanently in minds. Are the memories of holidays proof that we are living our lives? Or are they proof that our lives are so mundane in between?

How did you feel when you read that question? Because the truth lies in your initial reaction.

If your initial reaction was one of defence for your day to day then you're probably doing something right, and a change of any sort is going to imprint in your mind.

If you felt yourself slump at the mention of a mundane existence and dreaming of a holiday, then it's probable time for a change. A holiday if you can. Even a change of routine can pull you out of the clutches of Order and into the embrace of Chaos, bringing you a more Balanced life. Re-arrange the furniture. Try different meals or restaurants. Wake up earlier. Do something spontaneous! Just mix it up a little.

If you tensed up at the thought of all the balls you're juggling just to keep your life running and a holiday is just another stressful thing to think about, then take a deep breathe. Find five minutes, TAKE 5 minutes, to calm your mind and push everything aside. 5 minutes to meditate, sit still, breathe deeply, try and listen to the quietest sound you can hear, then the next. Look for the smallest details in the things around you, the texture of paint on the wall, hairs on your skin, lines on your hand. When all is calm, when you feel like a wax candle melting in the sun, think of the biggest problem facing you, and make a plan to solve it. Structure it. Build some Order out of the Chaos.

Balance isn't about always being calm. Balance is about constant change between Order and Chaos. Enjoy the ride.
