UFC 239 👉 The Thrill Moments Recap 👉 My First #sportstalk Post

This past weekend we had the chance to put our eyes on some of the most exciting fights you'll ever see. A great card overall and I'll try my best to recap some of the biggest moments of the night.

I have to start with Song Yadong who had an amazing performance against Alejandro Perez at 135lbs. Song, the new prodigy coming from Team Alpha Male under the supervision of Urijah Faber. Riding a 14-3 record, 4-0 in the UFC this kid really seems special being only 21 years old.

It was an impressive KO which earned Song a 50,000$ bonus after the fight!

Another youngster in the game who had my attention is UKs own Arnold Allen who welcomed Gilbert Melendez back to the octagon at 145lbs. Classic veteran VS new school matchup in which Allen showed once again why is fighting a young man's sport.

Even tho Gilbert tried to bring it to him, Allen was just to fast on his feet and moved in and out with perfection. He busted up Gilbert pretty good, winning every round to say the least, and is now 15-1 (6-0 in the UFC). Winning a unanimous decision probably wasn't the plan but don't forget Gilbert is as tough as they come. I can see a TOP 10 guy as Allen's next opponent.

Moving to the main card which was amazing in my opinion with the exception of Jones VS Santos fight, yeah I said it. I was not impressed by Jones at all but we will get to that in a bit.

Opening the main-card with Diego Sachez and Michael Chiesa who competed at 170lbs. Michael recently moved up in weight which was the best move he could make, seeing him drain to 155lbs was horrible. While Diego the original ultimate fighter always brings something extra to the octagon unfortunately couldn't handle the ground pressure Chiesa was putting on him.

Michael really looked so much bigger and just ragdolled Diego the whole 15 minutes, winning a unanimous decision in the process.

After them we had the former middleweight champ Luke Rockhold VS Jan Blachowich. Luke talked a big game like he usually does with a new input that is the move to 205lbs. Not giving Jan much credit, saying "Jan is the best we could get" and all sorts of other insulting stuff. Funny. But fun and games end when you step inside that octagon, a close first round which ended with Luke dropped by a high kick almost at the buzzer.

The kick was almost nothing compared to what followed in the second round. Most of us hardcore fans know Luke likes to drop his hands and be cocky during the fight, not learning much from his previous fails he dropped his hands again and left his chin wide open. Jan is no joke and has some crazy power in his hands and even predicted a left hook that put Rockhold away in brutal fashion.

Okay, I could make a separate post about this fight.

Jorge Masvidal and the undefeated Ben Askren were probably the "peoples main-event" on Saturday. So much shittalk went into this fight before it was even announced. Ben is the type of guy to talk a lot of crap while Jorge likes to back-up his claims in a fight. A typical wrestler VS striker matchup at 170lbs, and we could argue about was it a title shot eliminator, I dunno. All I know Jorge deserves it after setting a new world record for the fastest KO in history at like 3 second (5-sec officially) Check it out.

What a nasty flying knee, perfectly executed. The word on the street was Jorge wanted to start the fight with it months ago and practiced this move over and over again. Jorge is really a veteran of the game and I'm super excited to see what's next for him after, in his own words "baptizing two individuals back to back". - Gamebred

The co-main event of the evening was the double champ Amanda Nunes and the former bantamweight champ Holly Holm. I was expecting a technical fight with Holly moving away from Amanda's power shots and maybe even try taking her down. But Amanda is so good, constant pressure, controlling the center of the cage.

Late in the first round Amanda put together a combination followed by a head kick and put Holly Holm away and cementing herself as the best female fighter of the modern era.

I don't really have much to say other than props to Santos for fighting with an injured knee and even kicking with that leg the whole fight, in my opinion, Santos won at least 2 rounds maybe even 3 but I'm not a judge so who cares what I think. Santos is an awesome power puncher and I believe he had the chance to win this fight via KO if not for the injury. Super disappointed with Jones tho, you have a guy who barely stands and you don't finish him? Not attacking the leg or anything, in fact, Jones almost lost the fight. Winning a close split-decision VS an injured man is not what I'm used to see when I watch Jon Jones fight and maybe that's the reason why I'm being so negative. It was a weird one but I'll give it to Jones because, at the end of the day, in order to be the champ you have to beat the champ. And Santos didn't beat him up. Hopefully, we will see a rematch one day.
