Arthos surrender himself for the nature to decide his fate. The monster have surrounded him, and his injury stunned her leg. Suddenly, a blizzard strike into the darken sky. The ice particle very thin, yet very sharp, prickled the naked eyes. A shimmering light thrust from the sky above. A human-like warrior descended among the monster. The ice particle slowly merges into chuck-like crystal. All of them turns brighter, until a red-like color emerges from its center. And then a sound of explosion, from the faintest and then the loudest, reverberating the sky. The monster scream in agony as the ice particle sliced into their skin. "I was saved! At the direst moment, you came!" Arthos shouted in joy.
Prismologist, rather than strong in certain aspect, could be assumed as an mixed ranged card. It has combination of strong ranged damage, fair amount of armor and health, and several number of abilities. Therefore deploying Prismologist will require calculated planning to ensure it put leverage to other cards in the formation. Prismologist cost some mana, and its quite easy to find better substitute for this card. We will see why its matter.
| 1. Blast ability at Level 1 is surely an advantage. To make more leverage, Prismologist started with 3 damage which will surely give 2 blast damage. | 1. The mixed aspect of Prismologist make this card have less strong point on certain aspect. The ability are also less related one after another. |
| 2. A minimal armor at least give this card some protection from melee and ranged damage, thus able to take roles as mini Tanker for the back-row. | 2. Other than damage status, the speed, armor, and health are in overall low for a 8 mana card. |
| *Reference for Archetype term : Striker --> Superior Damage / Tanker --> Superior Health / Ninja --> Superior Speed. |
Regular foil price have gone quite stable for the past few months, with price increase taking place since the last week. Surprisingly, gold foil is severely decreasing, even currently at the lowest point. With regular foil price at $0.83 and gold foil price $5.13, the regular-gold price ratio become around 1:6 to 1:7. Considering the regular-gold bcx ratio around 5:1 to 4:1; there's less price gap to reach the same level for both. In my opinion purchasing gold price will be the best choice currently. But still as a Rare type card, this card is quite costly compared to other more affordable card.
As have been metioned previously, Prismologist is an all-rounder card, without excellent in certain aspect. The most notable feature is the Blast ability which available at only Level 1. Luckily odd value damage is a transition point where blast damage will get the rounded up benefit; in this case Prismologist with 3 ranged damage will have 2 blast damage. So in conclusion, at best Prismologist can caused a total of 8 damage (3 ranged + 2 x 2 blast damage). Other than this feature, speed, armor, and health are not very strong.
Progression step isn't looks very interesting. As a rare type card, Prismologist have only 5 steps of growth. Two of them are already used for +1 health growth, which will get drawback at Level 4. Damage growth at Level 3 are very beneficial, although it doesn't give much leverage to the blast ability (the blast will stay at 2 damage). The Forcefield ability at Level 4 is quite questionable. Its more proper to have this ability on a Tanker card, at least to anticipate chances for several attack with 3 or 4 damage. For reference take a look at listed card below. All of them are Tanker cards with high health-mana ratio.
The last level provide the Silence ability which in my opinion are rather worthless at least for two things. First this ability are possessed by other cards which have less than 8 mana (take for example Mushroom Seer and Death Elemental). Second this ability cost too much as this gained at the last level (and as Rare type card!). Just compare this for example with Crystal Werewolf.
| Ruleset | Strategy |
|---|---|
| Aim True would provide remedy on Prismologist's lack of accuracy. | |
| With only 4 health and 5 at max level, there's low chances for Prismologist to survive from this poison effect. | |
| This will be the best ruleset for Prismologist. By changing the attack targeting to other than first row, Prismologist can benefit from blast damage on card after and before of the target. |
Here's one of my battle experience with Prismologist in my formation. Click Here for the battle link. The battle have 27 mana cap, with Standard ruleset. For my formation, I used:
| Position | Card Name | Level | Mana | Health | Armor | Speed | Damage Type | Damage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Summoner | General Sloan | 1 | 4 | - | - | - | - | - |
| 1st Row | Shieldbearer | 1 | 8 | 9 | 4 | 2 | Melee | 2 |
| 2nd Row | Gargoya Scrapper | 1 | 1 | 2 | - | 2 | Melee | 1 |
| 3rd Row | Time Mage | 1 | 4 | 3 | - | 4 | Magic | 1 |
| 4th Row | Xenith Archer | 1 | 2 | 2 | - | 1 | Ranged | 1 |
| 5th Row | Prismologist | 1 | 8 | 4 | 2 | 2 | Ranged | 3 |
| 6th Row | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - |
My opponent formation:
| Position | Card Name | Level | Mana | Health | Armor | Speed | Damage Type | Damage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Summoner | Pyre | 1 | 3 | - | - | - | - | - |
| 1st Row | Living Lava | 1 | 7 | 6 | 2 | 1 | Melee | 3 |
| 2nd Row | Kobold Bruised | 1 | 2 | 3 | - | 2 | Melee | 2 |
| 3rd Row | Goblin Fireballer | 1 | 2 | 2 | - | 1 | Ranged | 1 |
| 4th Row | Serpentine Spy | 1 | 3 | 1 | - | 3 | Melee | 2 |

| 6th Row | Spark Pixies | 1 | 5 | 1 | - | 5 | Ranged | 2 |
I'm using a classic gatling gun formation (please see my previous post). This formation depend very much on Tanker with Taunt ability to absorb all the damage long enough while ranged cards do barrage attack dismantle opponent formation. Prismologist become my primary canon, and I trust it to be safe in last position. Xenith Archer will be secondary Striker. Finally Time Mage will join with its Slow ability to give better initiative. My opponent use Pyre which nullified the Slow effect, but its better than having Tarsa and its melee buff. Living Lava as a Tanker are very capable and strong, so we will see if my canon can bring it down. Fireballer was placed in front of Serpentine Spy maybe since Serpentine deal better damage. The two final row is filled with Fire Elemental and Spark Pixie with their 2 damage. Its an easy target for Sneak attack! But since I don't bring one, this battle will be head-to-head of which Tanker and and ranged card strike better.
The first round is a full scale attack with one another. Shieldbearer sustain heavy damage, but lucky enough the last strike by Living Lava is missed. On the other side, Living Lava also struck by attack and left with only 3 health.
The Round 2 started, and I lost initiatives with Serpentine, Elemental, and Pixies strike to bring down Shieldbearer and Gargoya. But its not long before Prismologist shoot the finishing strike and blast both Living Lava and Kobold Bruiser. And then Xenith Archer shoot to eliminate Goblin Fireballer.
Round 3 is a moment of determination. Pixie open with a shot on Time Mage, leaving it with only 1 health. And then Fire Elemental and Time Mage compete to make the next strike. If only Fire Elemental gain the first move, Time Mage will surely destroyed, and it give way for Serpentine Spy to finish Xenith Archer and the battle would be a lost. But conversely, Time Mage make the first move and put and end to Serpentine Spy. Now Elemental Fire have to step up and lost it capability to attack. And then Xenith Archer just shoot to destroy it.
By Round 4, the fate is sealed for my opponent, with Time Mage delivering the final blow.
My strategy worked very well, as Prismologist contributed much to Living Lava demise. Not only that the blast damage in the two consecutive round destroyed Kobold Bruiser. The attack on 3rd round was a miss, and should be a concern when confront Prismologist against faster enemies.
I really like Prismologist as it deal really powerful damage. To boost this card even more, it should reached Level 3 to have 4 ranged damage, and then by combining with General Sloan, it will gained 5 ranged damage and 3 blast damage. Finally with Snipe ability, Prismologist can reach the most effective damage.
