Great ingenuity and utilisation of scrap materials!

I had a copy of the Yates garden guide from the 60's and it had instructions to make a device that made liquid manure and that was the standard fertiliser everyone used, then some time in the 70's Yates started selling chemical ferts and all their guides started recommending chemicals instead of manure based ferts.

That's an awesome way to make use of free resources for the garden.
