Just yesterday in class, a lecturer threw a question my way but I couldn’t answer because I was caught at sea. Convinced that it was one of those things, he let it slide. However what he didn’t know was that, all through his lecture I was busily racking my brain, in a bid to come up with something to post on steemit later in the evening. Well, I came short as the events of the day got me so embarrassed that I stuffed the desire to post down the toilet.
When I was alone to myself, I attended to my usual habit of scrolling through the activities of the day all over again. While in my muse, a thought crept in by the door. My inner persons subjected me to an avalanche of questions: so what if the lecturer had sacked me? What if he had rained unsavory words on me in the presence of the entire class? Is steemit going to be the last straw?
Unlike the former questions, the latter question got to me. I kept thinking about all the times I had spent trying to come up with a post. All the times I had ignored my friends, in a quest to create an exhilarating post which would set everybody off when they read it. So I kept asking myself, should steemit be the last straw? Here’s what I came up with in response to that million dollar question.

The prospect of earning from doing what one loves to do, can be very tempting; earning from steeming is insanely tempting and addictive. Unlike the other crypto currencies, you earn steem dollars or steem just from creating good contents. The whole idea of it, can set one off. There comes a time when the single most important thing to you is the amount you are making on your posts or the nature of reputation you are garnering for yourself on steemit. In such times if you do not take care you may push out the people in your life. I have lost a few friends to steemit because they feel I do not have my priorities right. Some of us have prioritized steemit to the extent that the only thing we can think about when we are with our parents, siblings, friends or wives, is how quickly we can make a post or whether or not a whale has visited our post. We can’t event tend to our workplace needs focused because while thinking about what business decision to take, we are also preoccupied with how many SBDs we have made so far on a post or how we are going to invest in the block chain to earn big.
I am not saying you shouldn’t take steemit seriously. Nothing could be further from the truth. However I am urging us to set our priorities right. You must know when to steem; you must know when to attend to your family needs; you must know when to attend to your academic needs; you must know when to attend to your workplace needs because you never know when or how you are going to make it big in life. It could be on steemit but there is no assurance of whether or not a whale will visit your post in the foreseeable future or when you will garner enough decimal earnings to be able to take another step up the ladder of life. Maybe your biggest opportunity to make it in life won’t come on steemit.
Opportunities are sneaky, they slide in by the backdoor when you least expect them

So while you await the blessing of a whale or when you are a going to make it on steemit, you should also endeavor to keep an eye on your activities at work, school or the house.
So once again I ask, should steemit be the last straw?
My answer to that is NO.
Do not put your eggs in one basket otherwise you will be left with nothing.
