Talking about traffic as a Nigerian is a norm to us, we deal with it almost everyday of our lives. Except you are not the type that goes out or you want to tell us you go by flight on every movement which is rarely impossible because it still will not drop you off at your desired location. So either ways, things has a way of making you experience the traffic and to an extent we even plan our day and add traffic time to it. So on a rough scale, quite some little time of our life time is spent on traffic
Major cause if these traffics are caused by our bad roads in Nigeria and sometimes it is as a result of traffic regulators not doing their job properly or crazy drivers who tries to over take on the wrong lane or mostly road constructors... Talking about my experience I haven't really gotten a life threatening experience but I have had one of the most annoying traffic experience dating back to 2014 when I was working with an Israeli man (Late Engineer E-Kada) at WRPC, MAY HIS SOUL LIVE ON. We do go for engine maintenance and check up and most at times we do some motor works as well which he counted among the works we'll be doing together.
It was that faithful afternoon after we've done our check ups and little maintenance and we started heading home hoping to get to his house and return early since it was noon,got to Shaguolor junction (very close to Warri refinery) engineer decided to branch and maybe have a word with one or two managers. We branched and spent a couple of time there, it should be exactly after 3 when engineer decided we take our leave so we don't get caught up in traffic, you need to see how excited I was when we were hitting the road but that smile didn't last up to a minute because I have already sighted the hold up right from the gate of refinery down to Shaguolor junction and it must have affected down to the express (Oh God" I said to myself silently) already angry and tired because I know what we were in for, you'll understand this if you've trekked from the inner gate of refinery to come outside of the road that leads to Shaguolor
Engineer is not someone I'll just leave like that (He's come of age) and his eyes are giving him some issues as well. But it was a day I've planned to close early and meet up with some friends, I just tried to be positive and told myself that we'll not take much time there (the situation was already telling me that's my thinking oo)
That was how what was suppose to take us 2minutes drive landed us close to 4hours on the road, you need to see how I was hissing and engineer was all sweaty I began to regret even going to work that day, still knowing that I may go with engineer to his house first and still come back to face that traffic back home... I was seeing myself getting home 10-11pm already
After a long time of snail 馃悓 movements on the road we finally got to Shaguolor junction and as heavens may have it engineer turned like he was going home I hissed again, the next thing I saw was that he parked and he said I should go home from there. You need to see the smile on my face at that moment despite the meetup I have missed. Then I started thinking to myself if engineer heard me hissing (Who cares again) I was super angry at the moment but honestly I felt relieved a bit, but it was starting to get dark a bit. That should be to 7 already. So I had to trekk from Shaguolor junction to the express again, still didn't mind. But when I got home that day I was soooo tired and exhausted. You need to see my face that evening, thankfully my Aunt understood things and didn't stress me when I returned that day
This is one of my worst traffic experience among many, and till date I still face traffic just hope I fly out of the country soon so I'll go experience how traffic are in other countries... Thanks for stopping by and I hope you had a great time here, till next post stay safe
