MY TEAM FOR THE MATCH😑🙂
That last Division 5 AI match still sits in my head and I’m not over it. I went into it sitting on 18 points and the promotion requirement was 21 points. Do the math and it’s simple. I just needed 3 points from that one game and I was finally out of Division 5. I had been grinding for almost two weeks, beating players and sweating AI matches, just to get to this point. I even changed my formation that morning, put my best players in form, and told myself this was the last Division 5 game I’d ever play. I was already picturing the Division 4 badge on my profile and the better rewards that come with it. Everything felt perfect until the final whistle blew.
The game itself started exactly how I wanted. I came out pressing, got an early goal, and went 1-0 up before halftime. My passing was smooth, my defense was solid, and the AI looked clueless. At that moment I was already counting the points. 18 plus 3 is 21. Promotion done. I started playing safer in the second half, keeping possession, wasting a bit of time, thinking there was no way they’d come back. But that’s when eFootball does what eFootball does. Around the 70th minute the AI got one shot from outside the box and it flew in. 1-1. Just like that. My players suddenly couldn’t control the ball, my defenders started slipping, and the AI pressed like they were in a Champions League final. I threw everything forward, took off a defender, put in attackers, but the goal wouldn’t come. 90 minutes later it finished 1-1 and my heart dropped.
That draw ruined everything because I stayed on 19 points. I needed 21 and I only walked away with 1. One point. One stupid goal conceded and now I’m stuck in Division 5 again. The screen showed "Season Reset" and dropped me right back to the start of the division. All those wins, all that progress, erased because I couldn’t hold a 1-0 lead for 20 minutes. I sat there staring at the table for a long time. If I had scored that one extra chance in the 85th minute, if I hadn’t switched to defensive too early, if the AI hadn’t scored that lucky shot, I’d be in Division 4 right now. But "if" doesn’t give you points and it definitely doesn’t promote you.
Now I have to do the entire Division 5 grind all over again and that’s what hurts the most. Same AI teams, same scripted moments, same stress of needing wins back to back. I already proved I can beat this division, but the game doesn’t care. It just resets you and tells you to do it again. The rewards for Division 4 are better, the matchmaking is better, and I was right there. One game away. Now I’m back to fighting for 3 points every match hoping I don’t bottle it at the end again. It’s exhausting because you know you’re good enough, but one bad result sends you right back to the beginning.
I’m still going to play though. I can’t just quit after coming this close. I’ll take this L, learn from it, and start climbing again from zero. Next time I’m in a promotion match I’m not sitting back at 1-0. I’m going for 2-0, 3-0, whatever it takes to kill the game early. That 1-1 draw is going to fuel me until I finally hit 21 points and leave Division 5 behind for good. Until then it’s back to the grind, back to AI matches, and back to hoping the game doesn’t decide to rob me in the last 10 minutes again.
