MY TEAM FOR THE MATCH
I just finished the most painful Division 5 AI match I’ve played all season and I’m still sitting here with my controller in my hand feeling empty. This was match 8 that I lost, and that’s the one that buried me. Even if I win the last two games left in this cycle, the points gap is so big now that promotion is basically impossible. I did the math three times in my head during the loading screen and it still didn’t add up. I’ve been grinding Division 5 for weeks, beating real players and sweating AI matches, all just to get knocked down by one scripted collapse. Staying in this league again means another month of the same grind, the same sweaty games, the same nonsense. It’s not that I’m bad, it’s just that one bad run erases everything you built and that’s exactly what happened here.
From the first whistle it felt like I was going to dominate. I came out 2-0 up before halftime and I was actually talking to myself like “this is the one, I’m finally breaking the curse.” My passing was crisp, my finishing was clinical, and the AI team in red looked lost. I had 60% possession, more shots, and my defense was locked in. I remember even celebrating the second goal like I had already won the league. But the moment we hit the 60th minute the game changed. Suddenly my players couldn’t control a simple ball. Passes that were green turned into interceptions. Tackles that should win the ball just slid off. And the AI? They turned into prime Barcelona. One goal from Sergio Aguero made it 2-1, then another deflected shot, then a 90th minute counter that I had no chance of stopping. 3-2. From 2-0 up to losing in 20 minutes.
I’m not even going to lie, that match felt 100% scripted. You know the eFootball AI momentum when you’re doing too well and the game decides it’s time to humble you? That was it. My 97-rated defenders were getting bodied by 80-rated strikers. My keeper started parrying shots straight to their players. Every time I tried to build up from the back, three AI players would press me like they had stamina hacks. I tried switching to defensive, I tried wasting time, I tried park-the-bus, nothing worked. The worst part is I wasn’t making crazy mistakes. It just felt like the game didn’t want me to win. And of course it had to happen in Division 5, where every single point matters. Losing 3-2 after leading 2-0 doesn’t just hurt, it feels personal.
Now I have to accept my fate and that’s the part that stings the most. Eight losses. In this league format that’s basically a guaranteed stay in Division 5. I could go and win the next two matches 6-0 and it still won’t be enough. The teams above me are too far ahead and they’re not dropping points to AI either. So I’m stuck. Another cycle in Division 5. Another cycle of playing these AI games that feel like they’re rigged the moment you start playing well. I know I’m good enough for Division 4, I’ve beaten Division 3 players in friendlies before, but the system doesn’t care. One bad week and you’re reset. That’s eFootball for you. It doesn’t matter how much time you put in, the game will find a way to remind you who’s in control.
I’m not going to quit though. I’ll finish the last two games, take whatever coins and GP I can get, and come back next season with a new mindset. Maybe I need to stop playing when I’m already frustrated. Maybe I need to change my formation because this 4-3-3 is getting read too easily. Or maybe I just need to accept that Division 5 AI is designed to break you. But losing 3-2 after being 2-0 up in a game that decided my promotion is going to sit with me for a while. I’ll accept it, but I’m not forgetting it. Next cycle I’m coming back and I’m not letting an AI comeback steal my promotion again.
